The Icemen Program attracts and retains male figure skaters by building a supportive community inclusive of athletes, parents, officials, and fans of figure skating. The Icemen Program is committed to changing the narrative as figure skating is for everyone.  Created in 2012, the U.S. Figure Skating Icemen Program is focused on unifying the male members of U.S. Figure Skating. The program creates lasting friendships and camaraderie by providing opportunities throughout the year to connect with peers and role models, including Icemen events during competitions and camps. The program, only open to male members, was developed by U.S. Figure Skating's Program Development Committee to give this group of skaters a sense of peer support and networking opportunities, while also encouraging them to continue their involvement in figure skating.  The Pelham Skate School Icemen will meet on Tuesday nights from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. They will warm up off ice, get skates on together, and then train together on ice from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. After the on ice training the Icemen will do more off-ice training, and have education sessions where they will learn about the importance of nutrition, goal setting, competition readiness, healthy lifestyle choices, event recovery, and more! Parents should participate in the education sessions and additional parent education sessions that will be offered concurrently with the Aspire program skaters while our skaters are doing off ice training.

Synchro $90

Intro to Synchronized Skating: For skaters in Basic 3 and up (other levels at the discretion of the coach) who are interested in skating with a team. Skaters will learn the basic formations for Synchro (line, pinwheel, circle, block and intersection), as well as work on footwork, power, and flow.

Skaters learn the basics of synchronized skating while improving basic skating skills needed to move up through the levels of our Learn to Skate program. Skaters learn basic synchronized elements such as blocks, wheels, circles, and intersections as well as basic hand and arm hold positions. Skaters learn to skate in unison to a tempo and have the opportunity to learn and practice a program to perform in our ice shows or competitions (additional cost). Skaters enrolled in any of our Learn to Skate or Aspire Programs will receive 10% off all classes when enrolled concurrently in Synchro and or Dance.   All ages are welcome.

Synchronized skating is a popular discipline both within U.S. Figure Skating and around the world. Synchronized skating is a team sport in which 8-20 skaters perform a program together. It uses the same judging system as singles, pairs and dance and is characterized by teamwork, speed, intricate formations and challenging step sequences.

There are so many benefits to participating in a team sport, and synchronized skating is a great way for figure skaters to compete in a sport they love while enjoying all of the aspects of working with others in a team-oriented sport.
