August 1st is National Mountain Climbing Day. In Pelham, we believe every day is mountain climbing day because our beautiful Oak Mountain State Park boasts the best views around.
The 4.2-mile King's Chair loop is considered a moderately challenging route, but it is by far the most popular view in all of Pelham. The trail is well-maintained and easy to follow, with occasional markers to guide you along the way. As you ascend higher and higher, the views of the surrounding landscape became more and more breathtaking. Once you reach the top, you are rewarded with a panoramic vista that stretches as far as the eye can see. It is truly a magical moment you will never forget.
Our August Sticker of the Month promotes exploring, adventure, and the natural beauty you'll find all around Pelham. Find it at City Hall this month, along with more information on all of the many activities happening all around us. City Hall is located at 3162 Pelham Parkway. Sticker supplies are limited. Once they're gone, they're gone, so don't miss out!
To be entered for a chance to win some more cool Pelham swag, do the following:
- Take a picture at the location where you get your sticker. The sticker must be in the photo, and identifying characteristics of the location must also be clearly visible. (i.e., a sign, the building, stuff like that!)
- Follow the City of Pelham *and* Oak Mountain State Park on Instagram and/or Facebook.
- Post your photo and tag the City of Pelham *and* Oak Mountain State Park.
- Use the hashtags #pelhamalabama, #apathapart, and #explorepelhamal in your post.
If you post to both platforms, you'll get an extra entry! We'll also throw in an additional entry if you post another picture of where you end up putting your sticker! Will it be your water bottle, your laptop, or somewhere else? We can't wait to see! The criteria for the second photo are the same as the first.
We'll announce the contest winner on the first Monday of the following month.
